I am in week five of an 11 week bible study on the book of Revelation- this one is done by Beth Moore. Anyway, it is a very exciting study and I have had a ton of new insight. We were studying chapter 6 tonight with the 6 seals- the first one being the warrior on a white horse. She(Beth Moore) brought up four different things the white horse and rider could represent- all of which could be supported by scripture and all of which have a ton of bible scholars in agreement. The first is that the white rider is Christ, the second is that it's the antichrist(posing as an angel of light) the third was that it was a representation of war- mainly war brought on from an outside source(not a civil war, but invasion) and the third, which I had never heard before but I really liked was that the white horse and rider represent the gospel of Christ being carried/declared throughout the world.
The reason why I liked the fourth the best was because it gives such a great surge of hope before you get smitten with all the other horsemen and other seals that seem to bring just death and destruction. It seems that God is saying "I will send forth my word to all the world- everyone will have a chance to hear and to believe" before he sends out all the destruction. It is amazing to me.
Anyway, this is the first time I have really studied Revelation before- I have read through it, but it's a hard one to understand and it does get a little depressing!
So, what are your thoughts on the white horseman? I like the idea of it being Christ also- but it would seem more fitting(with scripture) if He were to ride in at the end of everything to reveal Himself instead of Him being the first of all the destruction.
Thanks for your thoughts!
