Renae and I went to visit the Kirtland temple this weekend. We visited last year at the prompting of the Holy Spirit and didn't think we
received anything from it but the Lord has shown us what was taken away from our last trip as well. Our last trip in 2008 is posted in the files section for everyone for reference.
This trip was more fruitful and we truly did feel the presence of the Lord there. Even though we did not get to go into the temple itself we did get a
witness of the Spirit from one of the gardens outside the temple. I was praying today about our trip and what the Lord wanted me to know for the
church and received a revelation which I have placed in the files folder.
So I hope it is received by the church with a witness by the Holy Spirit.
Section 22: Revelation received August 17, 2009 by Thomas D. Arnold.
This revelation is in response to the prayers of Tom and Renae in regards to the meaning of their visits to the Kirtland Temple for the last couple of years and for the meaning of the Kirtland temple in this current history of the Church and the Latter Day Saint movement.
Hear the voice of the Lord who has established Zion in these latter days and has commanded you to seek the Spirit in all things and to follow my voice as sheep follow the voice of their shepherd.
For two years I have brought you and Renae to Kirtland to visit my house and to seek me in this holy place. As a result of your visit I confirmed you both in the ministry of Zion and give you a vision to this effect. Even though you did not understand the vision until now, I the Lord, did bless you with my Spirit and started to prepare you for your current ministry. This I did give to you as a witness this past Sabbath as you came again to the Kirtland Temple at my calling.
Even though the temple is seen as a historic landmark it is still a house for my people, even in a defiled state I wish to dwell there so that all people my come to me and find salvation. For what is my house? Is it not a house still for prayer and learning? Is it not still a house of fasting and faith? Is it not still a house of glory and order? Is it still not MY house? A house established for my saints to come and seek the face and voice of the Lord. For even though my people are scattered at this time; the time is coming when I will gather them and call them to remember their heritage. I, the Lord, am their heritage and the temple is MY house.
Even now I am calling many to come together not as a church but as a kingdom; the kingdom of Zion and my people Israel. The Kirtland temple is still the house of my people to come and seek after me. I will call you to come to Kirtland again and with other members of the Saints to rededicate the temple for the use of my people. Since it is the only temple that was produced during the dispensation of my servant Joseph as commanded, it shall be a holy place again. The Kirtland temple shall be after the rededication a place of gathering for your feasts until a temple in Zion is built for use by my people. Become holy and undefiled and I, the Lord, will dwell with you again in holiness.
You must always remember, however, that the true temple is my people for as it says in the Scriptures "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands" and again "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" For, truly, the house of the Lord is for the true temple which is my people Israel to come and dwell with me in holiness and to gather together to learn of my ways. It is also for all the nations to gather to seek the Lord and all his ways as in the days of old; a place where my people may teach the nations my ways for the salvation of the whole world.
With the house of the Lord as a visible sign seek also to establish yourselves as stakes of Zion in your local habitations. Build up the waste places that you have been scattered from in the past. Seek the Spirit in all places and help establish the call to end the contentions and brokenness. For the true church will not stand again in fullness until my people are united to this cause. Be united as my disciples of old and you will truly be blessed. Allow the temple to be a place of unity and a landmark not only of past history but of your present love of God.
Become Spiritual Nephites and seek the peace of Christ in all things and in all places. Become a blessing to bless others and you will be established as in the days of your ancestors.
Hear the voice of the spirit and what it says to you at this time.
Amen.
