I need some good testimonies of healing...especially when the gifts of healing, either faith to heal, or faith to be healed, have been exercised.

I had an experience, back in the 70's, when my sister-in-law was a teenager.
We were out in the back field with a mini-bike, riding around and playing. Carrie stumbled and hurt her ankle. She could not walk by herself. We were way out in the back of 7 1/2 acres. I tried helping her walk and pushing the mini-bike at the same time. I ran out of energy. I did not want to leave the bike in the field. So, we stopped and I said there has to be another way. I said I wanted to pray over over her ankle. She said, "OK". I put my hands on her ankle and asked God to heal it. She got up and walked, painfree to the house....and I pushed the mini-bike. I asked her, recently, if she remembered it. She said, "Oh, yes! When God healed my ankle!" |

Wasn't there a time that Oliver C. and another were sent west in the winter? I remember they were getting sick or weak...and layed hands on each other for
strength or healing.....

History of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints CHAPTER 6 1830. Page 90-91 Joseph Smith, then, was not alone in seeing the necessity and in recognizing the possibility of a restoration of the gospel, "sustained by the ancient order of things," the enjoyment of the Holy Spirit, together with its extraordinary gifts. History records the fact, as we have seen, that others held similar views on this subject. However, he did claim more than they, so far as realization is concerned, as in the instance of the healing of Mr. Knight, as recorded above. If in this claim he bore false witness, he should be condemned and the fraud exposed. His claim seems to be remarkably verified, however, by creditable witnesses not of his religious faith. We give a few out of the many on record as examples of this testimony:- "Whatever we may say of the moral character of the author of Mormonism, it cannot be denied that Joseph Smith was a man of remarkable power-over others. Added testimony to the stupendous claim of supernatural power, conferred by the direct gift of God, he exercised an almost magnetic power-an irresistible fascination-over those with whom he came in contact. Ezra Booth, of Mantua, a Methodist preacher of much more than ordinary culture, and with strong natural abilities, in company with his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, and some other citizens of this place, visited Smith at his home in Kirtland, in 1831. Mrs. Johnson had been afflicted for some time with a lame arm, and was not at the time of the visit able to lift her hand to her head. The party visited Smith partly out of curiosity, and partly to see for themselves what there might be in the new doctrine. During the interview, the conversation turned on the subject of supernatural gifts, such as were conferred in the days of the apostles. Some one said, 'Here is Mrs. Johnson with a lame arm; has God given any power to men now on earth to cure her?' A few moments later, when the conversation had turned in another direction, Smith rose, and walking across the room, taking Mrs. Johnson by the hand, said in the most solemn and impressive manner: 'Woman, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command thee to be whole,' and immediately left the room. "The company were awe-stricken at the infinite presumption of the man, and the calm assurance with which he spoke. The sudden mental and moral shock-I
know not how better to explain the well-attested fact-electrified the rheumatic arm-Mrs. Johnson at once lifted it up with ease, and on her return home the
next day she was able to do her washing without difficulty or pain."

I recall two times when I requested healing from God for family members and the request was granted. I do not recall which incident happened first but the
details of each healing are forever etched in my memory.
My wife had gone to the doctor and been diagnosed with pneumonia. She had fallen to sleep that night, and I was feeling so bad for her because her breathing was raspy and labored. She was lying facing away from me. I put my hand on her back and prayed for God to heal her. Instantly her breathing became normal. When she woke up the next morning, I reminded her of the pneumonia and explained to her how she had been healed. We both praised God. My daughter had broken her arm. She was somewhere around 10 to 12 years old. This was a common occurrence.. She seemed to have a cast on one of her extremities each time summer vacation rolled around. The doctor showed me the x-ray. There was a clearly visible crack across the middle of her radius bone. Later, I heard the testimony from one of my sisters in Christ at church. She said she had an identical injury while traveling and had see the x-ray. When she came home and went to her own doctor, he x-rayed her arm again. He refused to believe that the arm had been broken because there was no scar on the bone. I was thinking about her on my daughter's next doctor's visit. While waiting to be seen, I asked God to heal her arm. I was immediately certain that she had been healed. I thought about insisting that the cast be removed and the arm x-rayed, but was pretty sure they wouldn't do it. Months later, the cast was removed. Sure enough, there was no scar on the bone. The doctor, who had not been the one to do the original x-rays was puzzled. He concluded that the break must have been somewhere on the end of the bone where the scar would not show. We did not feel led to ask him to view the original x-rays. My daughter, son, and I had all seen them and knew what this meant. We knew she had been healed. Now, brother Doug. As I recently told you in an E-mail message There is something I do not understand. Both of these conditions were curable. Since then, I have asked for healing of incurable conditions, and nothing has happened. I am sure that all my questions will eventually be answered. In the meantime, here is my story as requested. God bless. Rick. |

Thank you brother!
I am - myself - struggling with a seemingly incurable health issue, though ones we overcome naturally, colds, and flu, etc., I seem to get the victory over now. What would be the difference between these things, and the incurable? Is it simply how we think on them - a difficulty of our faith? |

That's what I think, brother. But I don't understand what comes in play or exactly how. I don't just believe God can heal. I know He can heal. I
believed it even before I saw it with my own eyes. There are times I know just what to pray for. And I know that God will answer that prayer. I can feel the
Spirit's assurance. That sort of prayer is always answered. In fact, it is always answered just the way I asked. I don't mean to get off subject, but I
have often wondered what the difference is between those times and other times. Not expecting anyone to have all the answers. Just wondering what you all
think.

It seems to me the difference would be our level of faith.
When you are able to discern the will of God, or have an assurance as to what you are to pray for, and how ... your faith is sufficient, having the assurance of it being right. When we do not feel this assurance, there is room for doubt. |

How does one go about obtaining such faith? It seems to me that even though the early Christians had been with Jesus and had even interacted with the
resurrected Christ, they were timid and ineffectual until the day of Pentecost. Then they changed the world. I feel that I need some sort of
"anointing" or "endowment" to make a difference. This has to come from outside myself. I am trying to be obedient in all things, and
letting God direct my path. Still, I find that I mess up a lot. I don't think that I could ever do anything to deserve it. Any thoughts?

Your thinking along the lines of a difference in the disciples before and after the Pentecost has truth in it.
I have been thinking along those lines myself. I recognize God must step up and do something to help us out here. At the same time, I realize this ... that Jesus said those who were faithful in a few things, would be trusted with more. And, I recognize there is a certain degree of endowment available now, that awaits those who step out in faith. In other words, there are gifts we can obtain even now, before the endowment, and I believe those who seek those out with all their might, and seek to use them for the benefit of the Kingdom, (sometimes risking getting egg on their face, actually getting out of the boat and attempting to walk on water, even if they might sink and have to be rescued) are much more likely to be given more. Peter, James, and John received much more than the other disciples, because they weren't satisfied. They wanted more!!! |

Well yes you may use what ever would be helpful.
Thanks for thinking that something I have posted would help another. One other key that I need to remind myself of for healing, or other trials. And that is praise. When it is the hardest thing to do, then that is exactly the right time to offer up a sacrifice of praise.(Heb: 13:15) louise |
