So in the past I've made brief mention of some friends here in Utah that are shaking things up a bit, waking up Mormons from their deep sleep. Lynn Ridenhour mentioned them too as he was asked to come speak to them out here in Utah a few times in 2004. The brother that was organizing these "conferences" was called by the Lord to a different work for a while, so it all stopped.
Just recently the Lord told him to gather all who would come to have another get-together to discuss and speak of Zion and what it would take to become a Zion people. Since I'm now living here in Utah, I was pretty excited to a) get a notice that he's doing this again, and b) that I'd actually be able to attend.
The first session was today, and a wonderful time was had by all. The Spirit was quite strong. Something was a little different, though. There was a small group of folks in the meeting wearing home-spun and white/beige clothing. One of them looked really familiar. I got to speaking with them, and sure enough, the bearded one is William (Ron) Livingston. Turns out some LDS folks living with the Community (Ingrid and Eugene) are starting a community in southern Utah, and he, his son, and a few others came out to help them get it going. They heard of the Zion Symposium and came with a case of books and a hope of speaking at it. Should make for an interesting time if Doug (the organizer) is told by the Lord to let him have a slot to speak.
Anyway, even though I don't follow the SP anymore, it was still nice meeting someone I'd only communicated with via cyberspace for 2 years.
