If you are interested in just LDS doctorine, check out your ward library- I was the librarian in one of my wards and they had a ton of books by mormon authors and some of the ones you listed were avaliable.  You can also ask around in your ward- I'm sure your bishop would either have some of those or would be able to point you in the right direction.
But if you are interested in just learning about God and truth no matter where you might find it- I would second Doug's book- God's Strange Act.  I really enjoyed reading it, and it really helped me to understand where my faith is with God and that God is not a church or denomination.  Some other great books are the Praise books by Merlin Carothers(I think I spelled his name right) I think he is a Methodist Minister- but he talks about the importance of Thanking God for EVERYTHING- even the bad.  I think when you really know what you believe in, you won't need to argue it with anyone.
God bless you in your journey- don't forget that God made all the other people too- not just the mormons.
