In our present spiritual state (speaking of people of Restoration background) I don't think it is likely we can do this is a regular church environment.
I have had the privileage of being a part of a group where this could be done, twice now. Once with our group in Michigan, and now here in Independence.
Both of these took place in a small house church. (Worship and prayer meetings in a house with a small group, no more than 8-12 people.)
We have to get to know each other and come to the point where we can open up. And know that it is safe to do so.
I believe these small, more intimate groups, is one part of the over-all plan of God, and part of the path to Zionic conditions among his people.
Many of the larger church structures have failed the people in this regard. Too much formality. They do not usually make the right environment for the intimacy we need. We are not a Chrisitian community so much as members of a club who meet periodically, and only go so far.... we don't let people see what is beneath. When someone asks us how we are doing, we say fine. Even if we are not. Because we don't feel we can go into it. This is a generalization of course. Not saying all churches are this way. But it seems to be the tendency.
