Palenque is an awesome sight. More than one Book of Mormon scholar believes this site to be Bountiful, including the president of the RLDS quorum of 12 during the 1950s. I have had three opportunities to visit this site, during one of them I was reflecting about what would have happened where I stood. It was a rather noisy day with lots of tourists in the vicinity and I really desired some quiet, but that was not to be. In spite of this during prayer a peace came over me and I look at the ground at my feet. There was a tiny conch-type shell (Palenque is not near the seashore). I picked it up knowing that the people who lived at this site considered this shell to be representative of the eternal. I believe I was standing on or near where Jesus addressed the multitude, where He brought the Lord's Supper to disciples on another continent, where He blessed the children. I was standing in the plaza between the Temple of the Cross and the Temple of the Sun.
