There has been plenty of debate on the office of High Priest since the RLDS break up in the 80's, coming mainly from the conspiratorial murmurs of Oliver
Cowdery, after he was put out of the Church, and from the research published on the "changing of the revelations."

Some believe High Priests in the New Testament, or Restored Church were an invention of man.

I asked God about High Priests, and the answer I received was as follows:

That Joseph was given more information about High Priests than we presently have, but was restrained by God from sharing because of the disobedience of
 the Saints at that time.

That High Priests will have an "critical" role in the redemption of Zion.

regarding this office - whether you believe there are such things as High...

Hello all in the Name of Christ,

I have just read some information on the Joint conference of restoration Branches and the entry in Wikipedia in the subject of the Restoration branches. Also I
have been looking through the D&C about the subject of the first presidency. Some use the first presidency and some do not. I am of a group who does not
use this office. I would like to study with others to see where they do or do not believe this should be in use today. I know from the Bible and Book of Mormon
there really was no first presidency. Christ ordained only 12 Apostles (disciples, elders, etc.) and they collectively were the "head" of the church.

So now I also see from the D&C that the 1st Pres was an office seperate from the Apostles? Could this be because this was to be a temporary office just to
get the church "going"? Or was it meant to go on within the church?

Just getting different opinions on this subject.

I continue to be amazed by how the Scriptures can suddenly open up something in such a way as to make you see something in a new light, and cause you to
realize your presumptions in the past were tainted by your own blindness.

Something I used to struggle with was Paul's argument of faith vs works.

Today, I was reading in Romans and realized he isn't actually making an argument against works, as in our actions.
He isn't saying it doesn't matter what your actions are, as long as you have faith.
He is specifically trying to show the Jews, and the Gentiles who are being "put upon" by legalistic Jews, that true faith in God trumps the works of
the LAW.

He is specifically talking about doing the LAW of Moses, which the Jews had a hard time letting go of in spite of their belief in Jesus as their Messiah. They
hadn't yet understand that what Christ did was to fulfill the law, and that faith in Christ had become the new...

parable of the olive tree.
And....that the older is the gentiles, and the younger...yet to come back...is the children of Israel.
The gentiles are older....going back to Adam.

The children of Israel are younger....only going back to Jacob/Israel.
